Chief Executive Officer, Michael Brothers Hauling

Tom Milani is CEO of Michael Brothers Companies. He has been immersed in the family business from a young age, working at Michael Brothers throughout his childhood. Now serving as chief executive officer, he oversees all six Michael Brothers Companies, steering the organization to continued success and growth.

Over the past 25 years, under Tom Milani's leadership and in collaboration with his father, Steve Milani (the company’s founder and president); his brother, Rob Milani (chief operating officer); and his brother-in-law, Mike Apple (chief financial officer), Michael Brothers has significantly expanded its footprint across various sectors of the waste and recycling industry.

The company operates three construction and demolition (C&D) material recovery facilities (MRFs) and scrap metal recycling yards, as well as one additional location dedicated exclusively to scrap metal recycling. On any given day, Michael Brothers’ fleet of approximately 40 trucks—including lift-off, roll-off dumpsters and tractor-trailers—services landfills, large job sites and residential customers.

Michael Brothers employs about 100 team members and continues to expand its recycling initiatives, including glass, cardboard and plastic recycling, by partnering with local businesses and municipalities to better serve the communities where they operate.

Tom Milani’s leadership extends beyond the company. He serves on the boards of directors for the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association and Construction Junction, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting the reuse and recycling of building materials. He also was appointed to the Peters Township Environmental Quality Board, where he actively contributes to sustainability efforts in his local community.
