Terrell Garrett started out with a small garbage hauling business in the late 1990s but sold it to create GreenWay Recycling in northwest Portland, Oregon. Initially GreenWay reloaded yard debris. By 2004, the company had evolved into transferring construction and demolition waste, and installed a sort line in 2008. GreenWay recently completed a $7 million rebuild of its material recovery facility, which now produces the highest recovery rates in the region. GreenWay was awarded 2024 Recycler of the Year by the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association.
